I am currently reading Doctrine and Covenants and Reward Partridge is in a lot of sections. Many of the verses about him say that the devil seeketh to destroy his soul. This makes sense because us was the bishop. But it also says many times that Bishop Partridge had sinned and that the Lord was not well pleased. I wonder what was his temptations were. I think is was a great man and suffered a lot. It would have been hard to accept the truth knowing most people would be against you and with all of the persecution. I need to work ok being a better man. I look up to Bishop Partridge as a great example of being willing to sacrifice and remain true and faithful even in painful trials and tribulations.
Right now my small family is in Ohio. We were able to stop in Nauvoo Illinois and see the work of the saints there and be reminded of their trials and sacrifices. They suffered much so that we can have the gospel today. On our trips we did have some discomforts but then my thoughts would turn back to the pioneers. Our minor discomforts do not compare to living outside in the freezing weather and walking thousands of miles to the Salt Lake Valley.
